The Cost of Duty
Thoughts On Episode 8
The Red Death came with the fall on night amongst the Beastpens. They were clothed in the nightmares of Man. But, no mere Fae, were these Beast, they almost seemed as if they were Man itself. They acted with reason and savagery, for they sought to make us fear and yet they fled when victory became unattainable. Odd creatures indeed, perhaps they are a new or old type of golem, or perhaps they were men in armor, or something new. I wished here could have been more study, but, they came to slay. It is also clear either they or their suit were imbued with Mind Magic. But, such studies are forbidden, alas. I wish my mind had been clear enough to hear their songs and knew the pattern they sent out. I wonder if they could control it? Or is it innate?
It is curious indeed that they would kill Samueal, and then, come for another mage. I wonder is this connected to something that the Coal Walker will me to. He Who Has No Name knew something, I wish I had pursued what he knew, alas, my family’s tragedy was first and foremost in my mind.
The Island showed me something. Power could be generated! We have satisfied ourselves with crude batteries and crude ways of generating energy. But, image if you could take one source of power and make it into the lifeblood of magic itself. Then you could change it into anything! One man could make a city overnight! All would change. Master Tellos must be informed, and I must show him a proof that it can be done.
